Cinque Terre and Garda Lake, ITALIA

Italy is the ultimate destination. The combination of the Italian kitchen and the scenic view makes it the best vacation you can ask for.

Cinque Terre

Strat your trip from Milan, we stayed at Hostel Bello (Medici street) and it was fabulous. Visit the Duomo di Milano and Galleria Vitorrio.

From Milan take the train to Manarola, one of five villages in Cinque Terre. The area can get very crowded but it's worth it. Explore the villages around; Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, and Riomaggiore. Two nights will be enough, stay at Ca' de Baran hotel. When booking accommodation in one of these towns, make sure it's not up on a cliff because there are no roads or taxies in this town.

Hiking to Vernazza

Hike the trail from Monterosso to Vernazza (3K) for an adventure day, take the ferry from Riomaggiore to Manarola to see the beautiful view of the colorful houses and travel at the narrow streets of Corniglia, lay down on the beach in Monterosso for perfect relaxation.

Monterosso Beach

Take the train from Manarola to Florence (optional as a one day stop along the way; Pisa Tower and Venice). I would recommend a guided tour in the streets of Florence, visit Galleria degli Uffizi, Duomo & Piazza Della Signoria, Ponte Vecchio – A Medieval bridge at the heart of Florence and Piazzale Michelangelo for the best view of Florence.

Piazza Michelangelo, Florence

Rent a car and head north to Garda Lake, we stayed at Albergo Casa Este hotel in Brenzone. Family owned renovated hotel with great view. Take the ferry to Limone, and visit Château Scaliger de Torri del Benaco. take the Masclesine-Monte Baldo Cableway. Drive North to Riva del Garda and rent a bike for a beautiful bike trail around town.

If the temperature is high enough you can enjoy a day in the Lake. We traveled in June and it was too cold. From Garda Lake drive back to Milan.
